Our Story
It started with a craving for something familiar.
As Mexican Americans, we grew up around bold flavors and recipes that have been passed down through tradition. One of those flavors was carne seca -- simple, deeply seasoned, and full of flavor. We wanted a jerky that reminded us of the carne seca we grew up eating in Mexico. When we couldn't find jerky that captured that same feeling, so we started making our own, just for our family.
Then the pandemic changed everything.
When COVID hit in 2020, my wife and I were forced to stop working indefinitely. Like so many others we suddenly found ourselves unsure of what came next. That moment of uncertainty became the moment we took a leap of faith.
With time on our hands and passion in our hearts, Handcrafted Jerky was born.
We started small -- making jerky in our kitchen and sharing it with friends and family. One order turned into another, and before we knew it, people were coming back for more. What began as a personal snack turned into a growing community of jerky lovers who appreciated bold flavor and something made with care.
We're still doing things the way we always have -- small-batch, handcrafted, and flavor-first. Every bite is inspired by our roots, our journey, and the belief that great food doesn't need shortcuts.
